The College of Social Work MSW Program prepares graduates to become advanced practitioners who serve diverse communities in South Carolina and beyond through specialized practice competencies in one or more of the following areas: Children, Youth and Families; Health and Mental Health; and/or Community, Social, and Economic Development. The MSW Program will provide students essential knowledge, skills, and values to practice effectively, ethically, and collaboratively to promote social well-being and social justice for vulnerable populations.
The College of Social Work is well known for its national and international leadership in social work education. Our MSW program is fully accredited, and it consistently ranks among the top graduate programs in the South. Our MSW graduates are readily employed in social work practice and administration throughout the world. Students can choose between part-time, full-time and, for students with a BSW, advance standing full-time. All students will choose a specialization for their final year.
The College of Social Work is a member of the University’s Division of Health Sciences. Academic deans across the division—social work, public health, nursing, pharmacy, and family medicine—collaborate closely to provide an intellectually rich, friendly environment for education, research, and service across diverse academic disciplines.
