F.W. Symmes Library

The F.W. Symmes Library at UCG is essentially a virtual library. It provides online catalogs and databases, as well as computers and software. The library is open to all students, faculty, and staff. Workstations and group study rooms are available during library hours.

Computers

The library has 40 workstations loaded with the following software:

  • MS Office 2013 Professional (Access, Excel, InfoPath, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, Word)
  • Acrobat Reader
  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • VMWare for USC Upstate

Headsets are available for purchase.

Printing

There is a black and white Multi-Function Printer that also scans-to-email and copies.

Online Catalog

Web-based access to online catalogs of all member libraries is available with the usual subject, author, title and keyword searching. If a book is needed, it can be requested through interlibrary loan service or PASCAL and delivered to the Library. It usually takes 3-4 days for a book to arrive at the Library.

Library Study Rooms

The Library has eight study rooms for students and faculty to use. Each study room is equipped with a blackboard. Each study room comfortably seats approximately 6-12 people. They are available during the time that the Library is open.

Please contact Jay Dugaw ([email protected] (or 1-864-250-1111) for space needs for larger groups.

Online Databases

There are several online databases available to faculty and students within the UCG campus network courtesy of DISCUS. You must be on campus to access these resources.
